The SPDR Bloomberg 1‑3 Month T‑Bill ETF (BIL) invests almost exclusively in short‑term U.S. Treasury bills with maturities of one to three months, giving it a pure government‑sector, domestic focus. Its strategy is to track the Bloomberg 1‑3 Month U.S. Treasury Bill Index by holding the same securities in essentially the same weightings, using a sampling approach when needed to match the index’s risk‑return profile. Because the fund offers very low interest‑rate and credit risk and provides high liquidity, it is suited for conservative investors looking for a cash‑like place to park short‑term funds, for portfolio buffering, or for the liquidity component of a broader diversified strategy.
