How It Started

In 2022, a friend encouraged me to look into Tesla stock. I was new to trading and wanted to be alerted when the stock increased by 5%.

The Problem

Every platform I tried was built for people who already knew what they were doing — full of technical jargon. Most required downloading an app just for a notification. Alerts fired constantly, sometimes several times a day for the same stock, until I stopped paying attention to them.

Worse, none of them measured an alert against the number I actually cared about: my purchase price.

Building TickStock

So I built it myself.

TickStock is for the everyday investor, not the day-trader — day-traders already have plenty of options. I took a less-is-more approach, including only what's essential to understanding an asset and cutting the rest. Instead of a traditional screener, I built an algorithm that surfaces relevant stocks and ETFs automatically. And it works on any device, from laptops to smartphones with small screen sizes.
